Closing Shop--Relocating to Gulf of Aden

It is official folks, The Angry Trader has moved his HQ from NYC to the Gulf of Aden. I have become a Pirate by day and a Trader by night. Given the time difference, I can and am doing both at the same time. Don't believe me??? Here is a picture snapped of me a few weeks ago as we (we being me and my pirate brethren) headed out after our next bounty of booty.

There may be some clear differences amongst us, as evidenced by the picture and the crew in general but we have worked through these as they respect me for wanting to be a pirate and I respect them for being so good at it.

Time to go, I just spotted an Iranian tanker about 18 km from me that is ripe for the picking.

The irony here is...well, there actually is a shitload of irony here:

1. We are building a fence to keep Mexicans out, but we want "these" Mexicans to come and spend their hard earned peso's at our low end department stores.

2. The same people who wanted Mexicans to wear identity bands on their outerwear now are driving them from mall to mall so they can make enough money to survive.

3. Retailers like JCP have found a new LOW END in terms of shopper. (Or are parts of the country now more low end than high end Mexico?)

Maybe it is a sad look at me and my life and my friends, but fuck it seems that every week I hear of another couple I am friends with that are splitting up. Over the weekend, me and my wife's respective best friends' called to tell us they are splitting up. Man.

So I am in need of new couple friends. NO, I am not looking for swingers--just some decent and cool people to hang out with. Maybe share a nice bottle of wine or some nice kindy kind bud? Nothing more, nothing less....


Look--and you know who you are out there...my other half would say I have no right to comment on why people split, nor comment on why people feel the way they do. That being said, and I am talking to YOU out there....you fucked up bigtime. Your going to die alone. Sorry but I have seen this story over and over again. You are the NOT nice one out of the group. Even your girl friends are not talking to you!!!

Now What???

That is right, now what? We have had a nice little rally here, the fed has shot it's load with no more rate cuts, oil is going to $22.........have we found a bottom? Was November it and we are finally in the last 3 innings of this bloody game? I don't think so.

This IS what I think:
Oil is going to $22 because the world economy has just come to a screetching halt JUST. That does not mean we are out of the woods yet. We are going to sit here, like helpless mother fuckers for a long time. Credit will continue to be tight for those with credit scores under 680. Those same poor folks are also the ones with MASSIVE credit card debt and all they are going to be able to do is basicly pay that down for the next 2-3 years.

What does that mean for corporate earnings? It means they will fucking suck. The whole trade over the last few weeks has been the great white hope for a 2H09 turnaround. There will be one. It is impossible for there not to be one. Inventories are going to 0 soon.

The back half of 09 will disappoint those looking for a tech snap back. We heard from ATHR last week, saying notebooks and netbooks are piling up. That is fucking scary. That was the last hope for the computing space. Netbooks were the new growth area. OOOOPPPPPSSSSS. Listen carefully. You can hear the air out of those expectations starting to leak out. I am expecting that balloon to be flying the fuck around bigtime, by the end of Q1. If you drive your inventory to 0 you will have to order to restock. But if you order only 5 replacements instead of 30 last year, everyone is fucked. Everyone is fucked.

Buy Infastructure plays cause Obama gonna spend mo than yo momma with yo daddy's paycheck. This motherfucker is going to spend like a drunken sailor off the boat for the first time in 6 months. His pussy and rum are going to be domestic infastructure and creating a green economy. Find some companies with big US exposure and buy them after the 20th of January. The whole hedge fund community now is long these pigs. They are all on the same trade which means they will not work. When these geniuses unwind, get long. You can own them for the next 4 years. Obama has some big fucking plans.

Smartphones is where it is at. Unit numbers from RIMM and prior to that AAPL showing real demand for next generation handsets. That in the face of the industry taking next year numbers down. Hmmmmmm. That is an interesting dichotomy. There is no rush to own either name, but if the tape corrects as I believe it will in late Q1, you will get your shot to own them both at better prices.

And last, Somali Pirates will continue to steal headlines. Have you noticed how much I love these guys? They just ransomed off a booty of guns and munitions for a more than $10mm. That is fucking sick. Despite some bad outcomes with recent run in's with the Indian and other International naval vessels, getting $10mm for a ship, well that is NOT going to deter them from sticking with it. An Eye for an Eye

As much as I want Iran wiped from the face of the earth, as much as I advocate using our full nuclear arsenal on all of Persia today I am going to write a GLOWING post on what is right with Iran.

An eye for an eye says it all. Gotta love brutality and a complete lack of morals and values. Apparently, a jilted lover and a swarmy mother fucker wanted to marry this Iranian chick. When she told the wanting to be male of this, he told her, "you will burn." Despite alerting the high end Iranian police, they told her that they could do nothing until AFTER a crime was committed. Fast forward and the swarmy mofo throws acid into her face, blinding her.

The high court in Iran then decided that their society demands that you literally take an eye for an eye in this instance. The swarmy mother fucker had his eyes burned out with acid a short while ago.

Gotta love the Iranians....and yes, that IS as glowing I can get when speaking of these mutts.

Dinner at Nero's

What the fuck am I talking about...I can hear you asking the question as I just begin to put pen to paper. For those of you who do not live near my high end neighborhood, Nero's is a quasi famous Italian place, with OK food, overpriced drinks but it is clearly the place to be seen.



Considering I hate pretty much everyone, there is little to no need for me to be seen. There is less of a need to overpay for mediocre Italian food and drinks considering I live in Soprano country and a great Italian meal is 5 minutes away in any direction.



So why the fuck would I go??? The recession buster dinner. Yes, I am one cheap ass mother fucker. $22 for 3 courses definitely got me there. And the whole meal just sucked.



My point is simple: a shitty meal at a lower price really is not going to fix anything. I did not get what I paid for, they could not cook my fucking steak medium well (sent it back twice, could not stomach another lugie on it if I sent it back a 3rd time) and ended up paying much more than I would at a different restaurant where it was BYOB.



The same can be said about what the Government is trying to do to fix our ailing economy. Take interest rates at 4-4.5% for new home buyers. That seems like a great deal. Historically that is a drop dead rate that you have to take advantage of. However, how many NEW home buyers are there now? How many existing home owners need to re-fi at at least a 4% rate to offset the delta in the material uptick in rates from their fuck you in the ass arm rate that has or will be rolling over?



Do you see my point? We are offering a shitty solution to a fucked up problem. Discounting a piece of the pie (like the recession buster dinner), and making it a shitty deal will not solve anything. It will continue to exacerbate it. Foreclosures will continue to rise unless this rate is lowered for ALL EXISTING HOMEOWNERS--including people like me that take our moral responsibility to this country seriously, do not live beyond our means and pay our fucking bills in full and on time.



Cutting rates for all to 4% would be a huge boost to the economy. Defaults would slow and people who are not over extended would actually take that savings in mortgage rates and SPEND IT!!!!



Why is our Government a bunch of pussies like the owners of Nero's? Step up with a compelling offer and let's fucking GO!!!



PS. Did you see the statistics that came out yesterday highlighting that over 50% of those who have had their mortgage rates lowered by their lender ARE STILL DEFAULTING??????

If American's had the ability to ignore party lines for a minute, the comparison would likely aggravate Democrats and elate Republicans.

Bush's Legacy:

1.) Showed up in 1-20-09 on a platform or conservative values and smaller government.
2.) Had his plan tested with 9-11.
3.) Executed a justified response in an un-Republican manner.
4.) Began a Congress supported, veto-proof spending blitz.
5.) As a result, government grew, and monetary supply was needed, thus the overly lax FOMC policy.
6.) Responded to Recession with anti-Republican 1x stimulus checks that did nothing.
7.) Allowed Paulson and Co to support the socialization of American Capitalism.
8.) Choked on a Pretzel.

Obama's Path:
1.) Ran on a platform of Marxist/Socialist values.
2.) Surrounded himself with terrible friends and confidants.
3.) Proposed tax increases for the 'rich'
4.) Gets elected and it all changes.
5.) Starts building a cabinet, back tracks on liberal campaign promises, makes it harder for the auto's to get bailed out.
5.) Keeps Gates in charge of the war.
6.) Marginalizes Reid and Pelosi (see below.)

But Obama ultimately will have to continue down a path of conservative values to prove he is Reagan-lite. The stimulus package could ultimately lead to a death spiral of inflation that rips apart domestic capitalism. But based on the transformation from candidate to President-elect, I am hopeful (terrible strategy to be hopeful vs. realistic, but what choice do we have?) that the stimulus package is ultimately spent a little more pragmatically over time, similar to how the first New Deal was supposed to be executed before everyone folded to the "GET THE MONEY SPENT TODAY BEFORE ITS TOO LATE" mentality."

Bush? Not a Republican. Yes, he is still a social conservative, but do we care more about Gay Marriage or dominating the global financial landscape? I take the latter and leave the former to people's own personal choice.

Obama Marginalizes The Know Nothing Know it Alls

Cavuto reminded me of a famous quote last night:

Couldn't be more apropos to the current environment, but taking it a step farther, there are also those that don't know they don't know they don't know...

Case in point: Pelosi and Reid.

First, neither of them know what they are doing. They both represent states (Ca. and Nv.) that were are the epicenter of the financial crisis, yet speak with a sense of moral superiority to the common man. California, yesterday, declared a State of Emergency due to a fiscal crisis resulting from the most liberal fiscal policies in the country.

But what they really don't know is that they are about to be marginalized by a power-house team Obama is putting together that doesn't like to play games and doesn't want to be bullied by ideologies. Love-em or hate-em, Obama has a team full of people that are working to build legacies as reformers that actually get goals accomplished. And so far, bipartisanship is no longer the longest 4-letter word in DC within the Obama coalition building.

Pelosi? She deserves it.
Reid? It's why we need term limits!

Society's Greater Issues Show Ugly Head

Welcome to what is sure to be the best blog on the web that no one has ever heard about. It's kind of like the best golfer to never win a major or the best quarterback to never win a ring, only I don't get PAID TO FAIL.

Which leads me to topic number 1: PAID TO FAIL

In the "want something for nothing" decade, driven by instant gratification, terrible parenting, leftist/socialist government, leftist education, and a media system that derelicts its reporting duty and sways popular opinion with biased information, everyone has their hand out.

Ford, GM, Chrysler, Citi, Lehman, Bear, JP Morgan, Wells Fargo (though they didn't want the money but Paulson coerced them into taking it as a "Patriotic" move), Goldman, Merrill, Banc of America, UBS, Barlcays, Fannie/Freddie, all have their slimy, grubby hands in your pocket.

But Why? Why is it socially acceptable and almost universally expected that failing is not only OK, but should be treated with great sensitivity towards the poor sufferer?

Let's start with Dodge Ball. You know, the game where a bunch of 8 year old kids run around and toss a soft ball at each other with the goal of being the last one standing?

Well, in the 1950's-1990, Dodge Ball, along with Tag and Little League, were great games for kids. Such activities fostered a competitive but fun, spirited environment where the goal was to win or finish better than the last time you played.

But a sudden sensitivity movement made it so there could no longer be winners in Dodge-Ball, and if you pitched the ball to fast for your age you were no longer allowed to pitch to kids in your age group. And if you scored too many touch-downs in a high-school football game, your team was suspended and forfeited a win...because you were too good. And on the other side, the the bad team that would finish 2-8 for the high-school football season was suddenly incentivized to be much worse than bad, with the goal of losing by as many points as possible so they could challenge the game and ostensibly be outscored 1-million to zero and finish the season 10-0.

If a kid played Dodge Ball too aggressively, he was told to slow it down, dont make the other kids feel bad by winning. In other words, "Don't Live Up To Your Potential."

Now these kids are working in government, working at Citi, working for the news papers. And they are using these life-lessons to tell you to back off Citi for loading up its balance sheet with bad debt, don't get mad at GM for making bad cars, and leave poor Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac alone. They all tried really hard to do their best. Honday and Toyota? Sure they make great cars. Sure they build them in America. But their cars are way too good for the price and we should not help their businesses do better because the poor people at GM will be hurt.

So lets all open our wallets up one more time and make sure the execs. that flew in on their private jets aren't forced to ever fly first class. We wouldn't want them to have a bad day because of our insensitivity.

Ride the Rally...McLovin flips stance

I told you all to sell stocks. That's right, and even after 1K points up in 2 days, I am still right. But I am changing my posture now.

Simple rule of investing:
Figure out which way most people will look stupid, and assume they will do their best to live down to your expectations.

Right now, I figure everyone is worried about getting the GI Joe with the Kung Fu grip. Look at 'em, they panicking. So said Billy Ray Valentine, and so says McLovin.

All kidding aside. The logical move here, with 6 of the past 7 bailouts providing a one day rally, as we had yesterday on the Citi bailout, leading to a ton of long-side pain.

This time, everyone is out there reminding you that if you bought the up day you lost money 6 of 7 times. The past few bailouts, the consensus was you better get long, or else you were going to miss some sort of inflection point in the market.

So right now, logic tells me that everyone wants to get short this market. Too much empirical data not too. That could lead to some short term put pressure or general selling pressure in the very short run.

But that play-book is played out. Now we have Obama hanging a $500B plus package in front of us. We know its coming on Jan 20. We know it will probably end up being higher than that. And if you want to be short cyclicals/industrials/energy in front of that, you are going to look like a big idiot.

Touching on a theme I mentioned the other day with respect to moronic things I have heard (dollar strength and oil weakness are good..), I think the dollar will decline and oil will rip on the package. Demand and FX driven commodity rallies with the 10-year at a multi year low are recipes for a monster move.

How to Prevent a Recession: McLovin Style

I am so tired of all the back and forth and over-intellectualizing and man-hours that have been wasted on trying to rescue this and save that. This problem started with, and can only be helped by fixing the problem of home values.

This solution is so simple, its embarrassing to post because it doesn't even fill 20 lines.

START ADJUSTING THE LENGTH OF PEOPLE's MORTGAGES. Take TARP money, and create a lending pool that banks could use to meet their funding cap created by lower monthly payments. The extended term, and greater amount of interest payments over time, creates a synthetic tax cut."

Please note I said length, not value. Please not I said this will help, not cure. But in that context, its the best solution because nothing has gone as far as to even help at this point.

Why would it help?

Confidence: If people can stay in their homes on a 50 year mortgage instead of a 30, they no longer worry about day to day and maybe spend $5 to rent a movie. Confidence matters a lot. In Japan, people saw the writing on the wall and started buying safes.


It's not really a bailout: The homeowner's still pay face for their homes, just over a longer-period. Trust me, they will be thankful, but this won't make em rich. They will be stuck in an upside down home for a very long-time and better make plans to retire at the same home because they aren't going to building much equity on a 50-year.

TARP Lending: TARP is used as a Fed Funds type of vehicle that enables banks to quickly and cheaply meet overnight funding gaps from lower monthly mortgage payments. It's just that simple. The government has nothing at risk in this case. We don't have to worry about a return on TARP money and whether our preferred equity in AIG will pay off. Instead, the government creates some of the highest velocity money in the world every day, and is paid back every day.

The Boy In the Striped Pajamas Cheered Me Up!!

It has been suggested to me that I need a caveat preceding this post:  So here goes:  ****Please note that I am not nor was I happy that an innocent child was murdered in a gas chamber.  I was however, cognizant of the bitter irony that a commander of a concentration camp had his son fall victim to the same fate as countless Jews.  Moreover, I did feel glee, yes glee, that a German Officer felt the harsh reality of genocide on its cruelest terms.*****

If you know me, and have had the misfortune to speak to me since the presidential election, then you would know what a deep funk and /or depression has overtaken me.  You could argue that a multitude of causes was the root for this funk...over a year of declines in the stock market, seasonal affect disorder or a slew of other misdiagnosis was my  ailment, my funk or depression if you will, was a symptom of same, not the election per se.  I would differ.  It was clearly associated with the election as the depression began the minute I awoke AFTER the election.

It is not that I have a thing against Obama.  If you read here often you know it is simply the aggressive push to socialist policies that scares the fucking shit out of me.  As I told a friend this weekend, if your are an American capitalist, and an entrepreneur, you are really sailing in uncharted waters now.  Never before in this country has there been more dis-incentive to be a capitalist or to try and turn your idea into your life, your livelihood and your future.

It is a great time, and an almost certainty that when he can Obama will be doing the other thing that scares the shit out of capitalists, raising our taxes.

How the fuck does this tie into that Holocaust movie playing?  It is simple and true.  I swear on the lives of my kids that this is true.  I went to see the movie with my wife and another couple. We wanted to see a comedy but EVERY movie was sold out but this one and I was not waiting till 9:50 to see a movie.  So we go.  It sucks(at least I thought so) but at the end, in the last 10 minutes of the movie, something fucking incredible happened to me.  I actually realized it was happening as it happened which made the whole event surreal.

During the movie, a Jewish kid and a German kid become friends against all odds.  (This is why the movie sucked because it was a simply implausible storyline).  That being said, at the end, the German kid, who's father was the commander of the concentration camp, sneaks INSIDE the camp and within 2 minutes is rounded up with the Jews, thrown into a gas chamber and KILLED!!!!   HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH. HAHAHAHAHAHAHA.  HAHAHAHAHAH.  HAHAHAHAHAHA.  HAHAHAHAHAHAH.....HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!!!!!!!!!!

Now I swear again, on my kids that as this happens, as the father is screaming "Bruno" at the tops of his lungs, and his mother on the outside of the camp hears her husband yelling--and knows her son is dead and falls to the ground crying.......there is a long very quiet pause in the movie....and at this point I am filled with mother fucking glee that the commanders son just ate it too.  I cannot contain myself and yell out, during this awkward silence where you can only hear the movie viewers of all ages sobbing....."TASTE IT!!!"    

That is right commander, taste my mother fucking cock jam down your throat as you realize your son just ate it with the 200 other Jews.    I wanted to scream out HA-HA like Nelson in the Simpsons, but Taste it just came flying out.

So I sat there, for the final minute of the movie, realizing that I felt better emotionally after seeing that than I have in fucking weeks!!!!!!

We went to dinner afterwards, where I could not help but smile all through dinner.  That and comment that it was the best Holocaust movie I have ever seen.

Think I am fucked up?  You REALLY need to get to know me.

Memo to India--we have been to the moon already!!!

Apparently India (the country not the bow and arrow kind) sent into space a TV-size probe adorned with a painting of the Indian flag. This apparently, "successfully rammed into the moon "Friday evening as part of the country's first unmanned lunar mission, Indian space officials said.

RAMMED INTO THE MOON???? How fucking fast could it be going to "ram into the moon"? How about 5,760 kilometers per hour (3,579 mph). That is pretty fast.....

Here are two priceless comments from Indian officials:

"The probe had a hard landing on the lunar surface that terminated its functioning." If anything hits anything else at 3,000+mph, its gonna stop functioning...

"One of the objectives of this probe is to understand the moon for future soft landings." REALLY?? Future soft landings? Note to India: we have already gone to the moon....we KNOW how to have a soft landing. WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU DOING???? They currently hold 17 vessels and are estimated to have attacked more than 90 ships in the region so far this year, according to the International Maritime Bureau's Piracy Reporting Center, which monitors piracy around the world. The attacks have increased in recent weeks, the PRC says.

The ransoms being paid to the pirates are also increasing, maritime security experts say. The method of paying the ransoms is changing, too, and has become one of the most complicated and dangerous sticking points in negotiations with pirates, the experts say.

Only months ago, pirates preferred to be paid through a complicated web of bank transfers using offshore jurisdictions, according to a maritime security source now involved with ransom negotiations with hijacked ships.

Now, however, pirates are demanding cash upfront, the expert says. Paying by cash can involve many middlemen who in the past have been killed delivering ransom.

While the street has seen layoffs for some time, the rest of America is just beginning to realize the harsh realities of where we are....



Over the weekend, I attended a friend's Birthday party at the Borgata in Atlantic City. Now granted I was NOT expecting crowds, but what I found shocked me. On a Friday night, at 1130pm, the place was almost a ghost town. Don't get me wrong, there were people in the place, but a bare minimum. Tables were not crowded, the slots were empty and what once was a thriving bar scene was non-existent.



The "rest" of America is just beginning to feel the pain. Yes I understand the losses to the 401-K's. Yes I understand the significant decline in housing prices, but the consumer has not even begun to DE-LEVER. What we have lived through for the past 12 months has been the financial unwinding their leverage. I try to explain this to my friends, collegues....whoever will lend an ear. Unfortunately, people do not want to listen. How could it get worse? Stocks are down 50% or more????



As I just said, the consumer has not de-levered. You know how they do that? They get kicked out of their homes (barring a Government sponsored plan to reduce mortgage payments) and they begin to rent, again. They do not spend a mother fucking penny on non essentials.

Now, here is the kicker.....the average Joe the Plumber has not seen the wave of layoffs that are about to hit him and his family/friends like a Tsunami in Malaysia.



Having breakfast with friends at a local eatery outside of Atlantic City, as the rest of the group lied about their winnings, I listened to the "locals" talking about some of their friends who had been laid off...that the casinos were monitoring incoming traffic and sending staff home through the evenings as volumes dictated. When i pretended to be reading a local paper and listened in on another group's conversation, it was eerily similar. How building and all construction had come to a screeching halt in the last few weeks. That they would not be able to spend on Christmas like they have in the past--and their was an almost apathetic tone that this year, there would be lumps of coal in the family stockings.



Just wait. JUST FUCKING WAIT. As the number of unemployed grows, so will the fear amongst all of us. EVERYONE will be wondering, will I be employed or will I be able to sustain my family at the end of 09? At the end of 2010. The continued negative realities will continue to curb all spending. We fucked up once before, during the summer when the Government gave everyone a check, and the fucking morons that live in this country spent it on 720i HDTV's( I mean if you are going to blow the check on something frivolous, then blow it on a 1080p TV--JESUS!!)



The next stimulus plan will be spent paying bills, appropriately. However, I digress. The point is that even if you still have a job next year, you will not be inclined to spend. Not inclined to spend means that profits will go lower and lower....it is inevitable. With profits so goes stock prices.



We have tested 7800 several times intra-day. We are going to break that, and close lower for the session. THAT will freak a lot of people out, and the last wave(hopefully) will begin. Where do we bottom? Stay tuned for tomorrow's call on where to get long and strong.

Torn - Who is the Real Barack Obama

I can't get over the two side of Barack Obama.

Side one shows the second most liberal voter in the Senate, one who aligns himself with Ayers, Wright, and Farrakhan, and gives speeches for Khalidi. He ran on a "spread the wealth" platform that included tax increases for the 5% of the population that already shoulders the majority of the tax burden, and laid out a framework to tax small businesses making over 250K a year, which already pay 80% of the small business taxes collected in the US.

Side two shows a guy that wont raise taxes on the rich, opposes an over-regulated response to the financial crisis, plans to cut taxes for most Americans, is pushing out 'reforms' on healthcare and education, hasn't been a vocal proponent of the moronic bailout, isn't making noise now that a second stim. package looks unlikely in the lameduck session, and is bring on people from middle of the road think tanks (CAP excluded from "middle of the road") and has sounded more like Reagan than Carter with strong language around Afghanistan and no firm deadline likely for Iraq beyond the draft resolution going through Iraqi parliament now.

Let's say Obama runs like the middle of the road conservative he appears to be positioning for. This makes him a lying campaigner that will now backtrack on just about every promise that energized the young voter. He's silent on gay marriage after saying on the campaign he did not support amending the constitution to support gay marriage, and is making threats to enemy nations despite his earlier plans to sit down and chat with rogue dictators.

Yet, the seconds version, which aligns Obama with Reagan as they are also both great communicators, may prove the best thing this country could ask for. Bush failed miserably at inspiring confidence and calmness. And you see to this day the same traits in Paulson, who recently said he would never apologize for changing the bailout protocol. A President, beyond all else, is responsible for delivering a confidence inspiring message of calmness and command of current issues, even if that's not the case behind the scenes.

I view this as a win win. Either we get a great President, or in 2 years the Dem's lost 10 house seats, and the White House two years later.

I want to be a Somali Pirate

Have you seen this? These fuckers took down a Saudi-owned ship loaded with crude and its 25-member crew, the U.S. Navy said Monday. That is totally fucked up. I have written before about these fuckers, driving around in their speed boats, picking off cargo and ships alike for the past several years....but this is BIG.

Saturday's hijacking of the MV Sirius Star tanker occurred in the Indian Ocean far south of the zone patrolled by international warships in the busy Gulf of Aden shipping channel, which leads to and from the Suez Canal. A U.S. Navy spokesman said the bandits were taking it to a Somali port.

Fully loaded, the ship's cargo could be worth about $100 million. But the pirates would have to way of selling crude and no way to refine it in Somalia.t that has become a haven for seized ships and bandits trying to force ransoms for them.

I have said repeatedly that I would much rather be a Somali Pirate than work on Wall Street these days. Think about it--sailing the high seas, no oversight, no governmental control, drinking rum, shooting guns, and an occasional stop at a pirate port (or otherwise) for some good ol' fashion screwing, stealing and an occasional gang bang. It is...a no brainer.

Stupid Things I have Heard

In the midst of the meltdown in the summer I heard that the market would be up this year because "people don't want it to be down because they don't get paid in down market."

Then, I heard that the stronger dollar and lower oil prices were going ignite a big rally.

How STUPID.

We rallied for 5 straight years on the back of a weakening dollar and rising crude. Rising crude reflects strong global growth, and rest assured that if crude moved to $100 right now, it would bring the market with it because its a sign of economic health around the globe.

The dollar has essentially be in decline vs. the Euro since introduction, with the exception of the first year or so.

How can a Wall Street professional make such unsubstantiated claims? Because it's not their money, it's yours.

I am so sick of idiots that one off everything to death and don't get called on it. Now I am calling people on it.

Next time we rally, watch the price of crude.

A few years ago when oil started its massive move higher, it was commonplace for headline to come out and say "stocks sink on rising oil" etc. I did some regression work and found that day to day, oil and stocks are uncorrelated. Over a 12-month period? 70% correlated.

I did all that and didn't curse once.

Too little too late (when will we hit critical mass)?

Well we got to hear from Obama last night in that BIG Sixty Minutes interview and I have to tell you, I am STILL FUCKING WAITING FOR A SPECIFIC COMMENT ON HOW WE WILL:

• Help to solve/fix the banking crisis
• Help to solve/fix the global credit crisis
• Help our domestic oil consumptions decline
• Lead the World in moving to alternative energies
• Grow jobs here in the United Socialist Sates of America

Memo to Barack: You are already out of time. I am sure many of you are just shaking your heads, wondering what the fuck is wrong with me...how can he be out of time when he has not even taken office? It is plain and simple. We need hope to start, and if you were able to couple that with any type of specific plans that address the above noted issues, we would begin to feel A LOT better about our precarious situation.

A call to grow alternative energy production in the country, coupled with geographic indications of what types of facilities would be built would have a huge uplifting effect on those worried about jobs or those who have already lost their jobs in those particular regions.

A call to implement a "bridge loan" to help the auto industry survive, as articulated on the program last night is insufficient. Be realistic--say what we know. There must be consolidation in Detroit. We will be shrinking our domestic production of vehicles in the near term and we cannot afford to keep all 3 running. Then take it a step further. Talk about the revamping of the blue collar worker here in America. Talk about how there will be a massive training/retraining program across the country to move industrial workers in dying industries to help propagate the new "green" initiatives whether it be solar, wind, geothermal, or some other alternative fuel.

We need the infrastructure. Who is going to build it out? The unemployed should, in addition to those working for existing companies in these sweet spots.

In regards to National Security, again it is too little and will be too late:

Obama said last night, "I think it's important to get a national security team in place because transition periods are potentially times of vulnerability to a terrorist attack,'' he said

REALLY??????!!!!!!! NO NO, BARACK, REALLY??????????

How could you not have this in place now? Do you not realize how happy Al Quieda is with you winning vs. McCain? We are a sitting duck, unfortunately. Get the power players in place so that you send a message to our enemies. Every day counts, do you not understand this?

Moreover, I cannot get over my "taxation depression". Why is it that most don't get that regardless of the economy you will have less money to spend, less to save. Your Government is keeping the difference. Every morning I wake up and ask myself, why am I killing myself to make money? Why shouldn't I take a job paying me $249,999.99, collect my tax break and live a simple life? Why should I care about being the best I can be? Why should I be forced to pay higher taxes for upholding my obligation to our country (paying bills on time, not being a sub prime mortgage lendee, not carrying debt and being over leveraged).

The problem is that there is NO good answer to those questions I just posed. NONE. There We are moving away from "America" and closer to "america". It saddens and scares me.

If you listen to the politicians, all we need electric cars, hybrids, solar, wind and biomass. That way, we wouldn't have to use oil, nat gas, or coal, which all emit CO2. In some circles CO2 has become widely held as a pollutant. Of course, plants and cows, as well as the normal 40K year enviro. cycle that leads to warming and cooling like clock-work, may disagree.

In the interim, France, UAE, Brazil, China, Pakistan, India, and other countries are using nuclear to feed the grid. France and Brazil are nearly 80% independent because of their nuclear capacity.

Meanwhile, the US's biggest asset, its coal/nat gas reserves, are rendered useless as the US government convenes meaningless debates to tell us how dangerous coal is. Try plugging your car into the wall overnight when your energy sources is wind or solar. They are both volatile sources of energy. The sun doesn't sign at night and the wind doesn't always blow. In fact, both sources are best suited for midday peak demand loads, when you are DRIVING YOUR CAR. So when you wake up in the morning, and realize you only have a 20% charge and can't make it work, you can blame the EPA, which is sitting on dozens of nuclear and coal permits, debating about best practice solutions for how to keep the CO2 out of the air.

I am so embarrassed by this nation's energy plan. We are being laughed at. UAE is funding its nuke development with our money from oil. The Saudi's are driving CNG cars, as is Iran, subsidized with our money. China is stimulating its economy with our money.

We deserve it.

Two weeks ago, I had the misfortune of answering the phone in my parent's home. It was my mom's friend Margo(I will not out her by giving her last name). I had not spoken to Margo in a real long time--over 20 years. Margo's son and I were friends in High School and I thought it would be only polite to ask how things in general were.....WHAT A FUCKING MISTAKE!!

Margo told me, " in 2 weeks, everything will be OK," continuing with "I have not worked this hard in 30 years...we are going to make it happen!!" She was referring to the election and her hope of an Obama win. Funny I thought, this is an intelligent woman who really believes a change in Washington will bring a real fast change for the positive here in the United Socialist States of America. What she does not realize is her nice cars, 5 vacations a year, her husband's lofty take home pay--all going down. All going away in a big way. Good luck paying for your grand children's college fund-- you are going to be lucky to pay your bills going forward.....

One Good Thing out of Chicago: Milton Friedman

Bless his heart (sorry, had to make fun of Gov. Palin), But Obama appears to have made a sudden and sharp move to the right, putting him in the moderate camp quickly. What I like most, thus far, is what appears to be a mass admiration for and adoption of behavioral finance, which was brought up in a weekend Journal Piece.

Obama appears to be working closely with smarter people than I would have guessed, bringing people who actually apply common sense, logic, fact, and behavioral philosophies to the econ. debate.

I am by no means a believe yet, given the guy ran as a Marxist Socialist, which appears more inline with his past behavior than the current, just left of center bent.
With 200 Bush executive decisions on the chopping block, from Stem Cells to positions on global warming, I am sure there will be more to hate.

But at least with respect to my pocket, something good may come out of Chicago yet.

Housing: Cost the Election in More Ways than One

It's pretty clear that the election was lost, or won depending on which side of Spread the Wealth you sit, on the economy, stupid. I contend that it wasn't the downturn in housing the really caused the election to be lost, but the upturn in housing that led to urban sprawl and faux upward mobility, ultimately altering the demographics of previously strong Republican foot-holds, such as the Philly suburbs or even Nevada.

Suddenly and for the first time ever, the demographics moved in a meaningful way over the 8-year Bush administration. Not only did this alter the demographics, but suburban populations were suddenly more concentrated and easier to mobilize in get out the vote campaigns.

I'm not saying this was the biggest reason for the shift, but it sure had to be a contributing factor I haven't heard mentioned anywhere yet.

That's how McLovin roll's. And, as a reminder, "Muhammed is the most commonly used name on Earth. Read a fucking book for once." Sup.

As the grandson of a Jewish grandmother, I have to say I am shocked at the number of elder Jewish people unwilling to vote for McCain. They all love Obama!
Of all the groups that you would think would HATE Obama and love a republican, the Jews would be at the top of the list.

Of all the groups that should love Bush, its the Jews. Bush has been Israel's best friend for 8 years and would never let anything happen to Israel without a response, and the rhetoric around Iran has been in the defense of Israel.

Jewish people wouldn't even be friends with a baker who served a Palestinian, yet Obama supports the PLO's former spokesman, Rashid Khalidi, and gave a nice speech in honor of Khalidi in 2003.

Obama doesn't view Iran as a significant threat, and said so because Iran is small compared to the USSR. He is bordering on Iran supporter. " Obaman said lately, “Show me where Iran tried to extend its terrotories”. It's a tiny country that doesn't pose a threat, according to Obama himself. If I said that to my grandmother she would throw me out! Yet Obama is for "CHANGE" so it doesn't matter.

Who would've though the US of KKK A (thats from Obama's Reverend Wright) would be able to pull off such a feat.

George Bush Made Mistakes - Worst Ever?

In case you haven't put the pieces together yet, I am a Republican. However, I am not a complete partisan kool-aid drinker like some.

George Bush came to office as a fiscal conservative, won a mandate, had the highest approval rating a president has had in a long time post 9-11, and somehow stole defeat from the jaws of victory.

One of Bush's biggest strengths - his willingness to make controversial decisions and not waver despite criticism - turned into a liability, but not because he was wrong. Bush lost his edge when he failed at the important task of communicating and inspiring. He gave back his mandate with his secretive measures, an unwillingness to pretend he cared what others were saying, and generally because he failed to inspire. I believe the latter point was mainly because Bush took his mandate too far and forgot that he was elected as a fiscal conservative to carry on the Newt Gingrich budget balancing mantra that helped the Republicans regain their Reaganesque reputation in the 1996-2000 sessions.

Tax cuts can't be married with spending increases, and this was a terrible short-coming of a plan that, on its surface, had the potential to carry the economic prosperity of the 80's and 90's into the 2000's, and firmly change the tax and spend politics that dominated the 60's-80's.

The whole point of tax cuts is to limit the size of government, and Bush missed that side of the equation and as a result critics of supply side economics will spend the next 10-years using Bush as an example as to why. What Bush did was open TRUE FISCAL CONSERVATIVES up to unfair criticism. Bush was a Democrat in drag when it came to fiscal matters.

History will tell the story about Bush's legacy. Was Bush smart for invading Iraq and putting the world on notice that no one will step on our soil and live to tell about it? Clinton held a lot of hand shaking events on the Great Lawn, but failed to respond to attacks on embassies, the USS Cole, and decided not to take a deal in 1996 to take possession of Osama Bin Laden. There hasn't been an attack on American soil since 2001.

As the election nears we continue see people willing to turn a blind eye to the most troubling associations and lack of experience that a Presidential candidate has ever had in our history. For Some reason ABC, NBC,CBS and many well known newspapers dont enlighten people about associations of William Ayers , Rev Wright, Father Pfleger, Raul Odinga, Tony Rezko, Acorn, Saul Alinksy, Frank Marshall Davis, and Rashid Khalidi. Up until this year, these associations would of got you jail time let alone the Highest office in the land. After admitted Drug and drinking binges to " find his Blackness" by Obama and still half of the country doesnt care. Obama makes Bill Clinton look like a Sunday school teacher when it comes to inhaling or not inhaling. If a Replubican ever had these associations and lack of experience he would be hung by his toe nails in middle of the Capital Building and beaten by Granola bars. Why is it that there isnt more outrage by the Mainstream Media for the illegal activities Ohio regarding Joe Plumber? This guy asks a simple question about Obamas socialistic tendencies and his life gets turned up side down by main stream media outlets and by Obama supporters in the State of OHIO. Where is Al Sharpton when you need him? and other example of things to come under the Obama Dictatorship is the cutting off of News Outlets that ask them tough questions about Obamas own words. This is serious shit people and i am not sure why people want more BIG govt in there lives with a Democrat Liberal Supermajority. Fairness Doctrine ? WTF does that pay for ? should i paymore for a road you drive on more than me ? or should i pay more schools that my kids dont use if i want to send them Private school. Maybe i should get a rebate ? Its only fair right Obama? The top 10% of the country pays 70% of the Tax bill in this country and the bottom 50% pays 2.9 % ..Is that fair ? under Obama 95% Tax rebate plan those people in the 50% will get a welfare check. I am all for compassion for the poor but when i see poor people in this country have cell phones and drive more expensive cars than most of us. I lose compassion quickly. I truly cant believe people have become so Blind because they dont like Bush and blame him for the economic crisis. Do some digging on the economic crisis. You will find Democrats in congress blocking regulation against Fannie and Freddie. Fan and Fred were a major part of this crisis we are in now. Why are people so stupid to believe in "CHANGE" and " HOPE" is America really that bad that we need to CHANGE to a european style philoshpy.. the last time i checked we were the superpower in the world because of Capitalism and the free market. Germany and France have stagnate growth while America has growth leaps and bounds in over 200+ years of existence. McCain wants to reduce taxes for ALL.. raising taxes on anyone in this economy will be disatrous. (ebbs and flows people )(economic cycles)To all the people who think the last 8 years have been the worst 8 years ever just think about the Planes that hit the Towers and the Pentagon. Has any other president in recent history been in this situation? We were lead to believe WMDs from Russia , British and American intelligence were in IRAQ. After multiple attempts by the UN inspections teams to look for them, they were met by Saddam Hussein with guns(remember that guy). You have to be kidding me if you think they never had them. He had ample enough time to destroy or move them to Pakistan or other terrorist sympathizing countries. So we decide to finish what we started and not leaving IRAQ in ruins and people cry that we should come home. I am sorry, finish the job we started so we dont have to go back in 10 years when it really has WMDS in plain sight and my kids dont have to go back. a Quick Reminder.. Hussein committed genocide on 500k of his own people. in Afghanistan we defeat the Taliban which people forget also. Bin Laden is hiding in a cave some where but when we kill him unfortunately we still have Al Qeada .. Thats why we always have to stay on the offensive and not let him bring it home to the USA. Personal Safety and Economic Safety go hand in hand . to cut Miltary spending by 25% which is propsed under Obama will be a disaster.I have highlighted a few things not to vote for Obama and Vote McCain. There are too many negatives regarding Obama that i could write for 10 days and will prob lose my job. No Time to Blindly Buy Stocks

I noticed a famous market pundit who may or may not have their own show on CNBC in addition to writing for a public media company say its "time to buy the dips?" What dips? The dips we got over the past two weeks when said pundit was saying that if you need money in the next 5-years move to cash? The dip's that occurred while said pundit was calling for a much lower than 8K Dow?

Why we rallied:

-- mark-ups
-- expiration
-- end of liquidations
-- Libor/10yr yield
-- Last week's TARP spend
-- China loosening monetary base

Why I think we stall and retest:

-- dearth of news flow coming
-- post election malaise
-- end of mark-ups
-- dismal 4Q coming
-- energy prices rebounding
-- sudden willingness to buy exposes the lowest common denominators
-- all of the recent performance was a last hour phenomena, not indicative of healthy sustainable buying, but marking up, short-desks cleaning up margin by 3PM EST

What could happen differently?

Now that 3Q reporting is winding down, buybacks can begin in earnest with quiet periods ending.

Would rather sell the strength than buy the dip at 9K, and will say the opposite again at 8K. See ya there.

3-Day Republican Action Plan: How to Win the Election

If Republicans want to win this election, there needs to be a laser-like focus on the following issues/guidelines for the next three days:

KISS Method - I am a big proponent of the Keep It Simple, Stupid method because Americans don't do well when the message is convoluted. Case in point, McCain's healthcare proposal, which is has the stupid part right, but the keep it simple element is missing. Barack Obama's message is "I will give you healthcare." McCains message is "well, you're employer won't give you healthcare anymore (which sounds negative) and it won't be a tax break for your employer (again) and then I will send you a check for $5K and you can buy healthcare, sort-of, and you might be able to buy it from another state." Do you think Homer Simpson wants this? This is reminiscent of Medicare Part D, which was so simple and easy to use for Seniors they couldn't figure out how to get their drugs through the pile of paper-work. It's not going to resonate if McCain keeps talking about his plan this way, regardless of whether his plan is better or not (those interested should note that Obama's handlers actually were the first ones to offer McCain's idea in 2005, but no one seems to care about that.)

Instead, McCain needs to tell people, "My goal is to make sure as many Americans are covered, and we will work tirelessly to see that goal through. But we will not make the Federal Government your healthcare provider, and if you want to know why, lets look at the facts of how social medicine actually hurts the system and makes getting treatment even more challenging overseas. I say we have a country that spends $2 Trillion on healthcare every year, and $800 billion of that is on administrative expenses. Lets get electronic medical records into your doctor's office, lets cut that $800 billion in half, and lets take the $400B and put it in a pool that will support Americans that need emergency care but don't have health insurance. And lets tell the insurance companies that they have 2-years to make this happen by pressuring their doctor's, because the insurance companies will no longer foot the bill for your doctor's inefficiencies. It's 2008 and we need to take the doctors office out of the 1950's."

Taxes: Make it clear that Obama will not cut taxes. He is the 2nd most liberal senator, and has no interest in cutting taxes and we don't want a president that determines whether you are rich enough to pay the way for those which he believes are too poor. We started out with Obama saying 250K a year or more is rich. Now we are down to 120K, thanks to Bill Richardson.

Make the tax issue, and the moving target of who is rich, into a bigger point of Obama's tendency to LIE. No more Mr. Nice Guy. Obama has lied endlessly, from his relationship with Ayers, to Rashid Khalidi, to Reverend Wright. Do we really believe that Mr. Obama, who belonged to the same Church for 20-years, never heard anything bad from his Reverend? We have seen just one or two sermons. Obama has seen 100's. Is it possible that Obama hasn't heard these types of sermons? No. Then why are we giving him a free pass here. He has lied endlessly, and we have no choice but to make this assumption because any time we want to see the evidence, he locks it up. Senate Records? Locked. Rashid Khalidi? Locked, won't talk. Ayers, guess he stopped talking when he gave the timely 9-11 interview where he said he wasn't sorry and didn't go far enough. Please stop saying you were only 8. There is no statute of limitations on terrorism.

Time to implement the less is more solution. The last two weeks have proven one thing: Joe the Plumber resonates. Whenever you are asked a question on any topic, you are down to three word answers. Example:

"Mr McCain, you have said you would like to keep the troops in the ME longer than Mr. Obama to see this war through. Please explain."

"Sure, I think JOE THE PLUMBER, and HARD WORKING AMERICANS, like JOE THE PLUMBER, realize we don't want to waive the WHITE FLAG of SURRENDER (ok-4 words.) We are at a crucial moment, and the notion of SPREAD THE WEALTH and waiving the WHITE FLAG OF SURRENDER are not options. When I look around me, I see a nation of JOE THE PLUMBERS, all living THE AMERICAN DREAM, and they don't want a SPREAD THE WEALTH administration and they don't believe we are air raiding villages, they believe we are SPREADING THE FREEDOM, not SPREADING THE WEALTH"

That's JOE THE PLUMBER, HARD WORKING AMERICANS, WHITE FLAG of SURRENDER, SPREAD THE WEALTH, WHITE FLAG OF SURRENDER, JOE THE PLUMBER, THE AMERICAN DREAM, SPREAD THE WEALTH, SPREADING THE FREEDOM, and SPREADING THE WEALTH. Tough to get confused.

Auntie Zeltuni: Obama's Aunt is living illegally in the US, in Boston, in government housing. Remind the people of America that they are footing the bill right now for Obama's Aunt who is hear illegally, and say if Obama is ok with you paying for his Aunt, an illegal alien, you are only seeing a glimpse of what Obama will do with your money in the White-house. Do you want to pay for Auntie Zeltuni's government housing? And if Barack Obama is such a big proponent of SPREAD THE WEALTH, why isn't he sharing any of his millions with his own Aunt.
