I have been picking up enough evidence to suggest that its questionable whether the US has a more open stance on the freedom of speech issue than China.
In China, local papers and news stations openly display their disapproval of certain government officials and policies. In the US, the lovely ladies of The View, Oprah, Tom Cruise, and anyone else with a high sense of entitlement to your ears will immediately shut you up, condemn you, obscure and omit facts, if it gets in the way of any form of balanced argument about the merits of a candidate.
Imagine walking around in a major city or university wearing a McCain T-Shirt? Imagine a respectable Republican having a fair shot to debate the issues on the mainstream media's pulpit? Not gonna happen. The day the media died, along with your freedom of speech, was the day Oprah anointed you know who as, "the chosen one." "When the Messiah speaks..." The craziest thing is that Oprah should lose ALL credibility for making those comments without vetting issues from his allegiance to radical, anti-American churches, Columbia professors from "my neighborhood" with ties to 'questionable' Palestinian, references to Marxism all over the anointed ones book, and a history of ties to ACORN.
But Oprah wont lose all her credibility. In exchange for your free pass of her abuse of her freedom of speech, you are slowly losing yours. And you can only blame yourselves for not asking the hard questions the media wont.
