Where are the construction Jobs you Promised?
Now we have the state unemployment data to look at. Some would assume this would be more accurate is its actually measured by claims and real data from real companies vs. the data collection system employed by the stimulus monitors that make up new congressional districts and double-count jobs that don't exist in the first place.
"Nearly four out of every 10 job losses in the Buffalo Niagara region came from local manufacturers and construction firms, which have been hit especially hard by the recession and tight credit markets."
"The region had 8 percent fewer construction jobs last month than it did in October 2008."
""The biggest job losses are in the manufacturing, construction sector and a disproportionately high percentage of minorities are employed in construction."
It's a joke. But have no fear, big Government is here. Soon we will have a JOBS SUMMIT.
And, not to be outdone, the House plans a Jobs Bill.
That's confidence inspiring. Maybe this is why Americans, by a count of 3-1, prefer tax cuts to stimulus at this point. And possibly why more Americans find themselves leaning Republican than they did even in the Bush years.
This social experiment didn't take long to unravel. Too bad it will take decades to re-ravel (if you will.)

More Troops to Afghanistan NOW
Listen: I have told all of you out there for years now that the ONLY WAY TO WIN A WAR IS BY FORCING UNCONDITIONAL SURRENDER. Period the end. Any war we won, that is what we forced our enemies to do. (Gulf War I did not fall into a war we won, because we had to go back 10 years later and we are still there. That is a modern day Viet-Nam. )
Winning a war in Afghanistan is going to take a shitload more troops than we have on the ground now. It also means we need to use those troops more wisely than we have thus far. I do not profess to be a military expert but I do know sending men, vehicles and supplies through ravines in hostile territory not only sets us up like ducks in a barrel its NOT the way to run an effective war.
The biggest problem is in the modern age, killing is just not fashionable. Killing innocents is certainly not fashionable. However, in war there is no fashion. There is nothing but war. Therefore, we need to kill a lot people in Afghanistan. A lot. If Taliban are hiding amongst civilians, sorry, they all die. It has to be the way. You may not agree with it, but it is the very simple truth.
So here is the problem. Biden wants us to pull out all together. Obama knows he can't do that because he promised to do what really needs to be done. Catch and kill Osama Bin Laden.
Enough is enough. Right? One man and his merry smell men declared war on the United States of America, flawlessly executed acts of terror and we still have not caught him. Pulling out without getting our man would send the wrong kind of message to the world. We would be sitting ducks for terror attack after terror attack. Unfortunately, we are in this and we are not getting out until we get our man. So why is it so hard to go and get him? It has been 8 years since 9/11. If we don't get our man we will have many more 9/11's in the future.

The Problem with Politics, The Problem with Washington
Saturday, October 3, 2009
You IDIOT!
What is so hard to figure out regarding Afghanistan??
Off my meds and PISSED AS ALL HELL!
Well sitting on the sidelines and not commenting has not made me feel one bit better! I am back baby and more pissed off than ever.
Have you noticed the following:
1. We are having tons of our troops killed in IRAQ again, even as we withdrawal?
2. We are NOWHERE in Afghanistan. We got not fucking clue how to handle that shit show (but the Angry Trader does).
3. All we do is mentally masturbate over health care.4. Cash for clunkers drove demand, only to have it dry up at the conclusion of same? Will we see the same in the housing market when the $8000/home government incentive goes away in a few more weeks?
5. The dollar continues to trade lower?6. The commercial real estate problem is just beginning to rear it's ugly head--and that problem is going to amplify current problems on multiple levels (employment, defaulting on mortgages for homes and other business loans as well...)
7. The level of anger in this country continues to rise by the second. It is ALL ABOUT US VERSES THEM!!! This issue is found on both sides of the political spectrum. Bleeding heart liberals who I know speak to me constantly using terms such as US and THEM when describing people who are either dems or republicans. When will we see the real cracks in our society as classes begin to fight against each other? When will we see the first riots in our major cities? Tom Friedman wrote an op-ed piece http://www.nytimes.com/2009/09/30/opinion/30friedman.html?_r=1 in the NYT highlighting the cracks in this society and relates what he sees occurring in this country to what happened in Israel just before Yitzhak Rabin's assassination. This is scary shit people. It is real, and I do not want you all to end up having to tell The Angry Trader, of all people, that he was right.
I have written here many times that the Administration is a bunch of fantastic puppet masters. The puppet show continues in full force--What I hear now, is what I wrote about months ago--the NEW NORMAL. Smart people and smart money have already come to acknowledge that things will NOT be the same for many years. Why can't the President and all of his puppet masters do the same? Why can't they deadly honest? Without the honesty, wherein we all know what real deep shit we are in, we cannot get going, we cannot truly recover and we will only set ourselves up for YEARS OF STRUGGLE.
SO IN CONCLUSION, I AM BACK, AND REALLY FUCKING PISSED.--The Angry Trader.

Who's Really in Control - Dem's or Repubs?
I think its pretty clear which party is really in control in DC right now, and it's not the progressive liberal branch of the West Wing and Capital Hill; it's the conservative base of the conservative party that's having a field day.
Some would say that's crazy. What, with Obama having won the election overwhelmingly in November and the Senate and House holding commanding majorities over Republicans. But if the Democrats are so in-charge, then why, with such a commanding power position in DC, can't they get anything passed? Why does Obama have to go on 5 Sunday show's this week, some 5-months into the healthcare debate that wasn't supposed to be a debate because it was what all American's wanted, to plead his case? Why does he have to continue to take up prime-time TV slots to craft his arguments? (Quite note to Obama: Be careful. It's football season now and if you start messing with the early Sunday or Monday night games or the Thursday night games post-Thanksgiving, you are going to be in a world of hurt in the polls.)
The fact of the matter is that Obama ran a clever middle of the road campaign at an opportune time when America turned its back on George Bush and John McCain stuttered his way through a terrible campaign (see my posts from last year when I routinely criticized the McCain camp for this.) However, as American's have a reality check about the direction of the so called Progressive movement, which is vastly different than the tax cutting middle of the road campaign, they are supporting the 'minority' conservative movement in an attempt to stop Obama from destroying the fabric of democracy.
This past week I spoke for about 30 minutes with someone who works at the most powerful progressive DC think-tank, one that has provided several cabinet members, Czar's, and ideas for the stimulus bill, health-care, energy policy, and social policy. The conversation underscored the naivete of the Progressive movement. While I challenged this person on the risks associated with demanding the more Progressive components of the health-care bill, I was quickly corrected on the points of Obama's lost mandate: "It's not like he was going to stay at 80% forever (note: was he ever actually at 80%?), he still has a big support base (note: really? apparently his support numbers fell faster than any post WWII President), and "failure just isn't an option" and "I can't imagine a world where we don't get these issues passed because the real cost is the melting ice-caps and dying polar-bears...."
As I had this conversation, I realized why, for much of the past 35 years, Republicans have held a commanding position in DC with only intermittent periods of Democrat control of the House and Senate and White House; Republicans have common sense and are living in reality where adjustments are made and you legislate the people's will, not what you wish the people's will was so that you can change the world to your ideal view (I take full credit for first comparing Obama's tactics to Hitler last year when I compared his campaign style tactics to those used by Hitler to brain-wash loyalists.)
So as Obama pushes ahead with healthcare, and he will push ahead and probably sign some meaningless bill to claim victory or else he risks losing the support to move energy, the next public mistake, and transportation, which is at least somewhat supportable, he has to be wondering whether making health-care, the most polarizing issue of his presidency so early(did he even talk much about healthcare reform on the campaign trail?), was a mistake. Energy would've had a little more support, and he could have quickly followed that up with transportation re-authorization in September. And then he would've had the support necessary to at least stage a legitimate fight on healthcare.
I will be watching the Gov. races in NJ and VA to see what America's position on Obama really is right now. I doubt its going to be as favorable as he would expect. But it probably wont phase the President, who continues to live in fantasy world where he thinks this country is left-leaning.

I was going to write...
Not only do you get to see the true America (and Americans) but you get to see outright how stupid and pathetic our elected representatives are. Take a look at the following clips and you tell me how in the hell these assholes are working in D.C. as representatives? But in searching this awesome thing called the world wide web (have you heard of it?) I came across video much more compelling which is quite supportive of my class war theory and concern. The video clips below are from a variety of town hall meetings discussing health care reform over the past several weeks. NOTE: some of the altercations are happening on the way into the meetings! Listen to the commentary....how each side thinks the other is un-American to the point to use physical violence against another! Houston....we have a problem!!
I am sure all of you saw the beginning of the next clip. A father with his son in a wheel chair confronts his representative and accuses the plan of limiting government aid to his son. What you did NOT see is the follow up interview where he makes some pretty wild accusations of harassment from the left for his actions. Watch him threaten to use deadly force against anyone he considers a threat to his family....
My point here? People are being stretched to the max. Just like the market's bubble popped, people are at the same point. They are on overload...and can't take much more. Fewer jobs, lower wages, less and in some cases NO savings, and now taxes, taxes and more taxes....
Look at this retarded bitch She is an elected official? This is how she takes control of a difficult situation? By talking over everyone else and not calling for decorum? What the fuck? Watch how the room splits on different
sides and how angry everyone is....

Reality vs. The Media
As we hit the 200 day mark into the Obama administration's tenure some interesting poll statistics and commentaries surfacing. Here is a video from CNN yesterday highlighting their Poll wherein Obama is now receiving a C+ rating:
The New York Times, however has taken a different approach (one that included using knee pads to blow the President) and must be on peyote as their headline today reads, "As Economy Turns, Washington Looks Better." You can read the full B.S article here:
Let me say this--the economy is improving the way your stomach and bowels improve the day after you start to take stomach medicine, and you no longer have explosive diarrhea but now are just left with the runs every time you eat something other than plain bread. Got the idea??
Other polls out during the week highlight Obama's approval ratings have sunk to 50%: http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2009/08/06/obamas-approval-rating-drops-percent-poll-shows/
More interesting to me was the D rating a selection of money managers, economists and corporate CEO gave the president yesterday.
One last thought: Nancy Pelosi has become the "Where's Waldo" of the Democratic Party. She must be getting another face lift.
(first on Nancy's health care agenda: iron-clad, in writing, guaranteed 3X/year plastic surgery)

F AIG and F Goldman
However, when the playing field is not level, that makes for some unfair and interesting dynamics. It also really pisses me off.
AIG yesterday swung to a $1.8B profit. Are you friggin kidding me? This mutt should be dead and buried along with Goldman in adjoining plots. Darwin must be rolling in his grave.
Will the masses be outraged when we are mired in the years to come with no true growth? Will they be outraged as they watch America, the global empire shrink as China and India take the lead?
We all laugh at Brittan. We kicked their asses in 1776 and that was the end of the empire. Can't you hear the Chinese already starting to chuckle? Will the masses be outraged when we are struggling to understand a jobless recovery and high inflation? Will they even understand what stagflation is?I am already outraged. Why aren't you?
Past and present administrations messed with financial DNA. They altered "survival of the fittest" by doing what they thought was right. The implications are on the horizon, but it seems that few if any are truly seeing what is out there because of their rose tinted glasses.I do not hold any positions in any names mentioned in this article/rant.
Oh...and one last thing... F IRAN too!

Memo to Obama: Israel Will Strike First
Today in the New York Times Op-Ed section, Aluf Benn, the editor at large of the Israeli newspaper Haaretz wrote an extremely insightful piece. I am sure that you read it, but in the event you didn't, here is the link http://www.nytimes.com/2009/07/28/opinion/28benn.html?_r=1 .
In striking this course, Obama has assumed, I believe, that Rahm Emanuel (given his close ties with Israel and his apparent "super Jew status" would be able to help guide policy--and this has already shown to be a strategic blunder. Emanuel and the Administration, again...say it with me...."don't understand the Israeli mentality."
How do I? Who the F am I to espouse this type of knowledge? That is why I found the aforesaid article so insightful. That IS the mentality.
I think if you mix in some insight as to who Benjamin Netanyahu is...and what continues to make the clock tick, well it is a pretty easy conclusion to come to.
- Israel is facing extinction. Period. The End. It is that simple.
- Israel has the capability to blow all of Persia off of the map. Period. The End.
- Israel cannot and will not allow Iran to possess nuclear weapons.
- Israel will strike first. Period. The End.
In further understanding Netanyahu, we need a brief history lesson, starting with Entebbe:
(July 3–4, 1976), rescue by an Israeli commando squad of 103 hostages from a French jet airliner hijacked en route from Israel to France. After stopping at Athens, the airliner was hijacked on June 27 by members of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine and the Red Army Faction (a West German radical leftist group) and flown to Entebbe, Ugan., where they were joined by additional accomplices. At Entebbe, the hijackers freed those of the 258 passengers who did not appear to be Israeli or Jewish and held the rest hostage for the release of 53 militants imprisoned in Israel, Kenya, West Germany, and elsewhere. In response, Israel, on July 3, dispatched four Hercules C-130H cargo planes carrying 100–200 soldiers and escorted by Phantom jet fighters. After flying some 2,500 miles (4,000 km) from Israel to Uganda, the Israeli force rescued the hostages within an hour after landing. All seven of the militants were killed, and 11 MiG fighters supplied to Uganda by the Soviet Union were destroyed; the Israelis lost one soldier and three hostages during the operation. On the return trip the Israeli planes met an awaiting hospital plane and refueled at Nairobi, Kenya.
Wanna guess who the one Israeli Soldier lost was? Go on....try....guess.... Jonathan Netanyahu. That will help shape your vision of oh....security, fighting terrorism, preserving your independence...well you get my point. Netanyahu will not sit by and watch Iran complete their nuclear tests, trials and ultimately complete their nuclear programs.
Here is a link to an article written by Jeff Goldberg writing for the Atlantic (whatever that is..)http://http//jeffreygoldberg.theatlantic.com/archives/2008/11/rahm_emanuel_and_israel.php
Goldberg more than insinuates that he an Emanuel are friends. He also talks about how Emanuel will stand up to Netanyahu. Ha! Just before Netanyahu was sworn in as Prime Minister, he made the following statement to the same Jeff Goldberg:
“The Obama presidency has two great missions: fixing the economy, and preventing Iran from gaining nuclear weapons,” Netanyahu told me. He said the Iranian nuclear challenge represents a “hinge of history” and added that “Western civilization” will have failed if Iran is allowed to develop nuclear weapons.
History teaches Jews that threats against their collective existence should be taken seriously, and, if possible, preempted, he suggested.

Cross Currents Galore
Goldman's print was more than impressive. However the reality is Goldman should not exist any longer. I have written this many times, but again I have to remind all of you how our past and present Presidents have totally screwed up capitalism as we have known it. AIG and Goldman had financial ties and vested interests in each other's businesses. We all know that they needed each other equally. The past Administrations both decided that firms were too big to fail and it was easy to write AIG a check, which in turn bailed out Goldman. Un-Acceptable. Completely. Even Fox Business went off on this.....
We talk about moral hazard. No shit. How about moral outrage!!!
INTC was more than impressive. Revenue, margins and the bottom line all beat the best of expectations and guidance was good enough. It ignited today's rally (no shit).
We shall see if some of the assumptions INTC's customers are making about a continued improvement through the remainder of the year hold water. It is clear that the consumer has begun to spend again, the question remains will this slow or improve and to what magnitudes.
Today felt good, so I will not shit on the continued bullish sentiment. I will only remind you all that during the Great Depression there were 3 50% rallies before the market finally found a bottom. Hope springs eternal, but we are quickly approaching fall and then winter.
So in a nutshell, F Goldman, Bush and Obama! F them all.
Yes, I am very angry tonight.

Palin Calls it Quits
Some quick video of the shocking event....
How great is she???? I mean really....ARE YOU KIDDING ME??????
Here is a video from MSNBC (I try to use all of the news outlets...) saying that there is some type of criminal investigation going on with Palin..
Listen: I am a BIG where there is smoke, there is fire guy. 3 years of law school will do that to you. The smoke came out over the weekend, now it is just a matter of time before we find the fire. Trust me on this one...
OOOOPSSS...He did it AGAIN!
Sunday morning big Joe comes out with "we might have misjudged how bad things were" commentary, if I may paraphrase. Here is Dopey Joe setting the stage to eat his foot
Here is another clip from this genius.
HEY JOE--ARE YOU KIDDING ME???? I MEAN ARE YOU SERIOUS??? It is time to remove this complete BOZO!!
In a nutshell, here is the scoop: You ALL have been DUPED!!! The Administration has lead, as I have alluded to in prior posts (see "Puppet Masters") us all to believe that things are getting better. "We are no longer at the edge of the cliff staring into the abyss" our President said several months ago. The market has rallied and so have 401K's. That is the key. The 401K.
Think about it....If the market lifts, so do people's investments. Every month you see if you are making or losing money. If you are no longer losing money you feel better. If you are making money, you feel a lot better. People have felt better. So much better that you do not hear the griping of last summer as a gallon of gas quickly approaches $3.00/gallon.
I just do not see how that will continue. The word out of Asia is that the back to school selling season of computers and CE's is and continues to be "muted". Muted. That is just great. Asia is also saying that there is NO enterprise spending going on.
Now how in the wide wide world of sports rally if overall end market demand is muted? If expectations are not met in the coming weeks, as Wall Street plows through earnings season, the market will be under some serious pressure.
The Joe B commentary followed up by other lib's saying we may need a second stimulus package also highlights how bad the economy is. This Administration cannot spend the money in the first package fast enough (they have spent about 10% of it so far) and now they are prepping us for the second. THAT CANNOT BE GOOD PEOPLE!!
Couple it all together as unemployment continues to rise and we will not see the consumer which accounts for 2/3 of GDP here in the new Rome, spending as many believe they will by the end of 09. Hell, the CEO of AMEX today said he does not see real GDP growth until some time mid to late in 2010. This is a guy who has a real good feel for what is going on out there.....
Back to the 401K's--if the market begins to roll, the momentum trade will be down, and down big. 401K's will begin to shrink again. People will begin to feel poorer and spend LESS. Not a Rosy picture for a Q4 recovery...but a beautiful set up for a new leg down, and new lows.

Lies, Lies and More Lies.
I thought to myself today....we are 100+ days into the new Administration and if you listen to mainstream media outlets you would think that President Obama is the greatest thing since sliced bread. You read yesterday's post where I highlight my concern that what is going on in terms of Government spending, Government printing of money, and Government taking control of private industries is nothing more than a masterful puppet act.
- Transparency in government five-day online availability prior to voting on bills in Congress.
- Closing Guantanamo
- Tax cuts for the middle class
- Promises to not raise taxes on those making less than $250,000.

The Puppet Masters
look at the putz above, being harassed by middle aged women! Schmuck!!
Let me explain why:
1. On Friday, that genius and voting member of the FOMC, Janet Yellen commented: while buying MBS and US Treasuries got off to a good start with yields heading lower, "there is a lot that central bankers don't know about the magnitude and duration of the effects of these policies." Moreover, she commented, "our standard monetary policy models do not incorporate financial frictions that lead to asset purchases having real effects."
The genius, Yellen, continued by saying, "we lack both the data and theory to provide strong guidance on these policies" and "we are sailing in uncharted waters, marking our maps with every bit of information along the way." HUH?? Are you kidding me?
This has to be a CLASSIC example of being "book smart" and then being unable to translate that skill set into being effective at your job. "Uncharted waters, and marking the maps along the way?" How many ships were wrecked in the 1400-1800's by sailing into uncharted waters? Answer: A shitload. The statements from Yellen, a Fed voice piece, clearly are beginning to highlight that they need to back off assertions of a real turn around. This is a classic hedge being put in place so that if things turn south again, they can fall back on the "we tried all we could but we are in uncharted waters" commentary. What a pathetic joke.
This had me upset Friday evening and all day Saturday. Then in the NYT yesterday a very interesting piece showed up in the OP/ED section: It was called, "The Economy is Still at the Brink."
more kool-aid tim? sure mr. bernanke! you're my hero!!!!
This was extremely insightful and highlights how the Administration is making you feel good with their commentary but has done little to nothing in terms of really changing the landscape to foster growth and recovery. The authors point out the following:
1. All of the Government programs (TALF, PPIP and the stress tests) all appear as if they were designed to cover over or prop up a system that has clearly failed. The new systems will save the banks and other financial institutions that are rooted in the cause of the near systemic failure of the financial system. The authors point out that during a period of deflation (we are in one now) any recovery will come by restoring the confidence of the people at the bottom of the pyramid, not the CEO's at the top. There has been nothing done for Joe the Plumber. Rather, the Government saved, AIG, Goldman Sachs, and Citi.
2. This leads to consumer confidence: There will be no confidence, as I have articulated repeatedly, until jobs are found and mortgages can be paid. We are a long way off from accomplishing either of those tasks. Moreover, do not let last week's unemployment numbers fool you into a false sense of security. The numbers had some funky tweaking in them and most importantly, a loss of 350,000 jobs does not mean ANYONE is finding new employment. Expect unemployment to break above 10% by the end of the summer.
3. FEDERAL officials and leaders are deciding who shall live and who shall fail in an economic environment that just highlights the unfairness and favoritism that is pervasive in the D.C/Wall Street back rooms.
4. Most interestingly to this author is the point the NYT article makes about the need for "experienced traders--not hothouse flowers--who design incentives that will encourage the market to have buyers and sellers determine asset valuations, not the Government."
This all sounds shockingly similar to my friend P.B's comments Saturday evening. It also gives me no confidence that the Administration can continue to walk this fine line while orchestrating every move of the puppet. It is inevitable that the puppet masters end up having all of their perfect strings become knotted, leaving the puppet to collapse on stage. I hope you have your flack jacket on when that shit hits the fan.

Facts Don't Lie
In February of this year the Obama Administration announced a Federal program, where the government is to spend $75 billion on incentives for mortgage servicing companies that reduce payments for troubled homeowners. The Treasury Department says the program will spare as many as four million homeowners from foreclosure. However, three months after the program was announced, a Treasury spokeswoman, Jenni Engebretsen, estimated the number of loans that have been modified at “more than 10,000 but fewer than 55,000." REALLY?!?!?!?!
In the first two months of the year alone, another 313,000 mortgages landed in foreclosure or became delinquent at least 90 days, according to First American CoreLogic.
They poke fun now, but I am all about guns and gold. Preparations for the new bunker are under way.
What is "Normal"?
Line in the sand--Lock them up and throw away the key!
Take a look at Israel. Our ONLY ally in the Middle East. Did I mention Israel is America's ONLY ally in the Mid-East? OH, right....sorry...cause it is pretty important.
Israel says they do not torture their prisoners. Having said that, Israel also comments on a daily basis that they will do anything and everything they can to continue to provide the highest level of security, and peace within Israel proper. You know what that means?
It means when they get a really bad guy in captivity--they torture the shit out of him. They do unthinkable things to him. Why? Because they NEED to know what the bad guys are up to. Without that information, obtained via torture there would be no more Israel. If they stopped using extreme tactics to obtain information, it would be only weeks before Israel was attacked in ways the world has never seen. The use of torture, and other unthinkable measures keeps Israel one step ahead of their enemies. Without it, they would be fighting blind, against a raging mob and the party would surely be over. Of course, they can just use or sodium pentathol at times, but torture also sends a powerful psychological message to your enemies.
Here is a clip of both Cheney and Obama speaking out on this issue during the week. Let me say again, I HATE Dick Cheney. So yes, he has that evil smirk on his face when speaking, but look at how Obama also has a particular "look" during his remarks. His smirk says, " I won, I am right, and I will continue to highlight this." It is a look of patronage and one of mockery.
The problem with this of course, is that if we release these captives, they will return home and begin their own Jihads. NO--THEY WILL NOT RETURN TO THEIR HOMES AND LIVE NORMAL LIVES. They simply will not. This may be one of those times our Country must pay for a long time for crimes committed against human beings....but we cannot release these men back into the global population. These guys are on the same page as serial killers. We all know we would never believe a serial killer has been rehabilitated and would welcome him/her back into the general population. The same holds for these America hating Jihadists hell bent on destroying all of us.
My last point is one Cheney makes as well----the release of these prisoners will leave our country vulnerable to attack. How? Simple--these men upon returning home will not be hero's. They will be received as Gods. They will bring their already massive amounts of hatred towards the West back to their homes, and turn hundreds if not thousands more minds into jelly and then teach them that ALL if their problems, the whole world's problems are the fault of America, Israel and the rest of the West.
